BORN HULL 1890. SON OF MARGARET COTTINGHAM & CORNELIUS KITSON (1853-1934) OF 16 CHEAPSIDE, HULL AND 5, BELMONT STREET, OLDHAM, LANCS (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. WORKED AS A COTTON MILL PIECER.

ENLISTED OLDHAM. SERVED IN THE 6TH EAST LANCS REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, IN MESOPOTANIA, ON 24/04/1916, AGED 26. COMMEMORATED ON THE BASRA WAR MEMORIAL, IRAQ.
