Born Elsecar, Yorkshire, 1893. Son of Thomas and Alice Knowles, of 9, Ebor Street, Selby. An Oil miller working Hull when war began.
he enlisted in Hull, Served in the 3rd Coldstream Guards. Killed in action, on 15/09/1916, aged 23.
His army effects were left to his brothers and sisters.
