Lamb, Alexander Andrew

BORN EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, 1889.  SON OF WILLIAM & SARAH LAMB, OF 57, STANLEY STREET, SPRING BANK, HULL. HE WAS A TINSMITH (1911 CENSUS). HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

HIS WIFE, ROSE CLARA LAMB LIVED AT 5, SALISBURY CRESCENT, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED & LIVED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND/5TH WEST RIDING REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION ON 3RD MAY 1917, AGED 28.

COMMEMORATED AT THE ARRAS MEMORIAL. ALSO LISTED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHNS, NEWLAND, HULL.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOW ROSE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 02/01/1919.

HE IS ELDER BROTHER, CORPORAL, JAMES LAMB, LABOUR CORPS, WAS WOUNDED IN THE LEFT FOREARM. HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, JOHN KIRKWOOD LAMB, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, WAS AWARDED A SILVER WAR BADGE. JOHN LAMB, RGA WAS DISABLED WITH MALARIA,
