Planudes SS, was a British Cargo Steamer of 542 tons built in 1900. On the 20th January 1917 she struck a mine and sank in the North Sea off Whitby laid by the German submarine UC-43 when on a voyage from the TYne to Trouville carrying a cargo of coal. 11 persons lost including the master.
