BORN HULL 1888. ELDEST SON OF HARRY LEE (1862-1950) & ADA FAITH APPLEYARD (1865-1960), OF 88, LONDESBOROUGH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. WORKED AS A TANNER’S LABOURER.

JOINED THE HULL PALS AS PRIVATE, 111, 11TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED TO THE “ACCRINGTON PALS”. KILLED IN ACTION, ON THE SOMME, 01/07/1916, AGED 28. BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, A LOVING SON. HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR HUMANITY”.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, HARRY.

HIS BROTHER, WALTER, SERVED IN THE EYR AND LIVED AT 4 EPPING TERRACE, MADELEY STREET, HULL.

HIS BROTHER, ROBERT, SERVED IN THE RAMC & LIVED AT 85 DERRINGHAM STREET, HULL.
