BORN HULL 1878. SON OF WILLIAM & MARY LEEMING, OF 140 CUMBERLAND STREET, HULL.WORKED AT EARLES CEMENT WORKS WITH HIS BROTHER IN LAW JOHN SPARKS & LIVED WITH HIS SISTER AT 7 EARLS COURT, WILMINGTON IN 1911. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL WITH THE 9TH (SERVICE( YORK AND LANCS BATTALION. KILLED IN ACTION, ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME, 01/07/1916, AGED 38.

HE IS BURIED AT SERRE ROAD CEMETERY, SOMME, FRANCE.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW ANNIE ELIZABETH LEEMING, OF 11 EARLS ROW, WILMINGTON.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 8TH NOVEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
