Born Chelsea 1895. Only child of Victor Erskine Lewis (1863-1923) and Edith Branson (1869-1924) 0f 274 Oxford Street, West London. His father was a theatrical Manager. Educated at Westminster School, London. Served a Lieutenant, in the 13th east Yorkshire Regiment, Killed in action at Serre, on 13/11/1916, aged 21. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
