BORN HULL 1892. ELDEST SON OF RACHEL ANN LILL, 35 PARROTT STREET, OFF SELBY STREET, HULL. HE WAS WELL KNOWN IN FOOTBALL CIRCLES HAVING PLAYED FOR RECKITT’S RUGBY TEAM AND CENTRAL HULL. HE WORKED A LONG TIME FOR GARDEN VILLAGE, BUT FOR TWO YEARS BEFORE THE WAR WORKED AT RECKITTS’ CANISTER WORKS, STONEFERRY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT THE DARDENELLES. HIS NAME WAS MISPELT AS J HILL ON THE RECKITT’S MEMORIAL. HOWEVER, HE IS ALSO LISTED ON ST MATHEWS CHURCH ROH, BOULEVARD. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH ARE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 5TH JULY 1915. *
