BORN HULL 1871. SON OF CHARLES AND HANNAH LINTON, OF 2 HODGSON STREET, HULL. SON OF A SHIPWRIGHT. HE HAD A BROTHER, WILLIAM AND THREE SISTERS, SARAH, ANNIE AND ALICE.

DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7.5 INCHES TALL, 129 LBS WEIGHT, 34-35 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, LIGHT BROWN HAIR, TATTOOS ON FOREARM AND HAND, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.  HE MARRIED JANE ANDERSON ON 27/05/1905, WHILE ALSO BASED AT SHOEBURYNESS, ESSEX. THEY HAD ONE DAUGHTER, ANNIE MURIEL, BORN 13/10/1906 AND ONE STEP SON, EDWARD ANDERSON, BORN23/09/1902.

A PROFESSIONAL SOLDIER. HE ENLISTED SEAFORD, LANCS, ON 27/02/1891, AGED 20. HE SERVED WITH THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. POSTED TO INDIA AND  BERMUDA. BASED IN HALIFAX AND NO4. DEPOT, ALDERSHOT. PASSED EXAMS & PROMOTED THROUGH THE RANKS. QUALIFIED ARMY COOK. SERVED FOR 25 YEARS AND 332 DAYS. AWARDED LONG SERVICE MEDAL.

HIS WIFE JANE LINTON, LIVED AT 30 CHURCHILL ROAD, NEWTOWN, GREAT YARMOUTH. HE DIED OF HEART DISEASE, BROUGHT ON BY STRAIN OF MILITAY SERVED. DIED ON 24/01/1917, AGED 46.

HE IS BURIED AT FOREST TOWN (ST. ALBAN) CHURCHYARD, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE, UK. HIS GRAVE, READS, “THY WILL BE DONE”
