Lister, George Henry

BORN HULL 1899. ELDEST SON OF GEORGE ALBERT & HARRIET LISTER. HE HAD ONE OTHER YOUNGER BROTHER. THE FAMILY AT LIVED AT 12 CROSBY STREET, CUDWORTH, NEAR BARNSLEY IN 1911. HE WORKED FOR THE HULL & BARNSLEY RAILWAY. HE ENLISTED IN 1915, AGED ONLY 16. SERVED WITH THE 15TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY.  KILLED IN ACTION, ON 28/05/1918, AGED 18. (ALTHOUGH CWGC RECORDS SAY HE WAS AGED 21).

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE SOISSONS MEMORIAL, AISNE, FRANCE. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER HARRIET, AGED 42, WHO MOVED TO 10 CLIFTON HILL, CONISBOROUGH.
