Lobb, George Baynton

Born Gosport, Hampshire 1876. Enlisted Hull. Son of Francis T. Lobb (1847-1879) and Grace Mary Winter (854-1918). He married Mary Elizabeth Smith, 25 Jun 1905 • Kirkdale, St Paul, Lancashire, England and married Olga Johanna Rebekka Jonsen, at Hull, in 1911. A Professional Soldier. He served as WO 95/1424/2 3/7430, 8th Bn., East Yorkshire Regiment who died on 26 September 1915.

Buried at Loos-en-Gohelle, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. His army effects were left to his widow, Olga. His Pension Ledger address was 3 Clyde Street, Hawthorne Avenue, Hull. He left a son Francis Harold Lobb (1913-1978).

His brother, Francis Frederick Lobb, died on 31 May 1916 at the Battle of Jutland aged 42. He served as Fleet Surgeon, RN, on board HMS QUEEN MARY, sunk at Jutland. Francis is listed on the RN Memorial at Portsmouth, Hampshire.
