BORN LEEDS 16/12/1892. SON OF ALFRED LOFTUS (1852-1902) & ISABEL SEWARD (1858-1902), OF HEADINGLEY LEEDS. HE HAD two BROTHERs, ERNEST (1877-1895), ( DOUGLAS (1880-1905) AND TWO SISTERS, BARBARA ISABEL (1888-1853) AND MARJORIE CAROLINE.

HE WORKED AS AN ACCOUNTANCY CLERK, IN HORNSEA (1911 CENSUS) AND AS A FARMER IN, CANADA . HE LIVED AT NEWLAND PARK, HULL, WITH HIS SISTER, BARBARA, AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS.

DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 10 INCHES TALL, 175 LBS, 38-40 INCH CHEST, RUDDY COMPLEXION, BLUE EUES, DARK BROWN HAIR, LARGE OPERATION SCAR ON ABDOMEN, TATOO ON LEFT THIGH, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.

HE ENLISTED AT VERNON, CANADA, ON 08/12/1914. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 107370, 2ND CANADIAN MOUNTED RIFLES. SAILED FOR ENGLAND ON 12/06/1915. BADLY WOUNDED BY SHRAPNEL, IN THE RIGHT SHOULDER, AT THE SOMME, ON 09/10/1916. AFTER HE RECOVERED ON 24/02/1917, HE WAS PLACED IN THE RESERVES AND COMMISSIONED, INTO THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, ON 05/01/1918.

HE DIED AT ROYAL FREE HOSPITAL, MIDDLESEX, ON 09/11/1918, AGED 25. BURIED AT BROOKWOOD MILITARY CEMETERY , SURREY.

UNMARRIED. HE LEFT £1,262 IN HIS WILL TO HIS SISTER, BARBARA.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 12/11/1918.
