BORN HULL 1866. ONLY SON OF CHARLES LUCOP (1828-1909) & MARTHA WARD (1829-1917), OF 4 ETON TERRACE, PROVIDENCE ROW, HULL. HE HAD TWO SISTERS.

A SEAMAN AND SHIP’S STEWARD. HE MARRIED MARY ANN COLWELL HIRST AT HULL MINSTER, ON 06/07/1893. THEY HAD FIVE CHILDREN, TWO OF WHICH DIED IN INFANCY. THEY LIVED AT 11 ISABELLA TERRACE, LORNE STREET, 12 WAINFLEET TERRACE, FOUNTAIN ROAD, AND LATER 3 REFORM STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL HEAVY BATTERY, ON 23/09/1914. GIVING THE AGE OF 45 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 148 LBS WEIGHT, 35.5 INCH CHEST, BROWN EYES, DARK BROWN HAIR. SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. LEFT ENGLAND ON 07/02/1916. ARRIVED IN EAST AFRICA, ON 16/03/1916. HE DIED OF HIS SECOND ATTACK OF MALARIA, ON 21/12/1916, AGED 50. HE HAD SERVED IN THE BATTERY FOR 2 YEARS AND 90 DAYS. HIS WIDOW MARY, WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 27 SHILLINGS AND SIXPENCE FOR HERSELF AND THREE CHILDREN. HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON HULL’S LORNE STREET MEMORIAL.

HIS SON, PRIVATE, HENRY LUCOP SERVED WITH THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY AND DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 25/04/1921, AGED 25.
