BORN HULL 1883. SON OF EDWARD LYONS & MARY ANN LYONS (1858-1904), OF HULL. HIS PARENTS WERE FROM IRELAND. HIS FATHER WAS A BRICKLAYER. EDWARD LYONS WORKED A DOCK LABOURER, BOARDING AT 43, HULL STREET (1901) CENSUS,  WHIXLEY HOSPITAL, HARROGATE” (1911 CENSUS). AGAIN WORKING AS A GENERAL LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED AT WALLSEND ON TYNE. JOINING THE 24TH TYNESIDE IRISH REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLD IN ACTION, ON 06/11/1916, AGED 33. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE.

HIS ARMY PENSION WENT TO HIS SISTER, MRS ELLEN NELSON, OF 15 DUNCAN STREET, THE GROVES, HULL (PENSION ADDRESS)

HE IS BURIED AT CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, ARMENTIERES, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “THOUGH DEATH DIVIDES LOVING MEMORY CLINGS”

HIS BROTHER, WILLIAM LYONS, 1/4TH EYR, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 25/04/1915, AGED 31. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE ALSO LEFT TO HIS SISTER, MRS ELLEN NESLON.
