Pte, Thomas Lyons, 6th EYR

BORN HULL 1887. SON OF JAMES & ANN LYONS, OF 93 GREEK STREET, HAWTHORN AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). IN CIVILIAN LIFE, HE WAS LABOURER ON HULL DOCKS. HE HAD BEEN A SOLDIER FOR THREE YEARS BEFORE THE WAR SERVING AS PRIVATE, 71316, DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE WAS RECALLED ON THE OUTBREAK OF WAR AND SERVED WITH THE 6TH YORKSHIRE PIONEERS. SERVED IN GALLIPOLI AND FRANCE SEEING MUCH HARD FIGHTING. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 03/10/1918, AGED 32. HE IS BURIED AT CHAPEL CORNER CEMETERY, SAUCHY-LESTREE, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 18/10/1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. * HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, THOMAS LYONS.

HIS BROTHER, PTE. JOHN LYONS WAS WOUNDED IN THE WAR. HIS OTHER, BROTHER JAMES LYONS, 5TH WEST YORKS. WAS KILLED ON 21/03/1917. ANOTHER BROTHER. WILLIAM, EYR ALSO SERVED.
