HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 11/12/1915, AGED 37 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 35 INCH CHEST. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 23/07/1916. POSTED TO THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE BATTALION, ON 31/08/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/04/1917, AGED 38. HE IS BURIED AT HENINEL-CROISILLES ROAD CEMETERY, FRANCE.
