Born Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, 27/10/1883. Only Son of John Rodgers Marsh (1859-1883) and Elizabeth Hannah Gordon (1862-1935). he had one sister, Elsie Cooper.

Married at Queens Hall, Hull on 7/4/1912. Husband of Emily Selina Andrews, at 11, Exmouth Street, Newland Avenue, Hull (Probate and war pension address).

Described as 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 140 lbs weight, 37-39 inch chest, good physical development.

Enlisted at Hull, on 29/2/1915, aged 32. Served in the 32nd Hull Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. Promoted to Corporal, on 20/11/1915. Posted to France, on 30/12/1915. Served on the Somme. Invalided to Blackpool, England on 28/2/1917, with bronchitis, due to exposure to harsh climate. Appointed Acting Saddler Sergeant, on 1/3/1917. Discharged on 19/4/1919, with 40% disability. Died at Hull, on 06/02/1925, aged 42. He left £235 in his will to his widow at this Probate address.
