BORN EASINGTON 1879.  SON OF JOHN & ELIZABETH MARRITT, OF BACK STREET, EASINGTON. HE HAD THREE SIBLINGS AND WORKED AS A FARM LABOURER.

GEORGE ENLISTED IN HULL, WITH HIS YOUNGER BROTHER WALTER, WHO SPENT MUCH OF THE WAR AS A GERMAN PRISONER.

GEORGE SERVED IN THE NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS AND DIED ON WOUNDS, ON 29/09/1918, AGED 39.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE EASINGTON WW1 MEMORIAL.
