A PAINTER IN THE THE EMPLOYMENT OF MR CHRISTOPHER, OF SPRING STREET, HULL, AFTER SERVING HIS TIME, WITH MESSRS SIMPSON AND SONS FOR 4 YEARS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8.5 INCHES TALL, 34-36 INCH CHEST, 147 LBS WEIGHT, ROMAN CATHOLIC RELIGION.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 20/11/1915. CALLED UP FOR SERVICE, ON 01/03/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 23/06/1916. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (LEWIS GUN SECTION). HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR 2-3 MONTHS, WHEN HE WAS KILLED, ON 25/09/1916, AGED 28
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH WW1 MEMORIAL, JARRATT STREET, HULL, WITH HIS BROTHER, 2ND LIEUTENANT, WILLIAM BERNARD MARSH (1893-1918), 12TH NFUS, ATTACHED TO THE 1ST LINCOLNS, WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION., ON 21/03/1918, AGED 24.
THEIR OTHER BROTHER, GEORGE, SERVED WITH THE EAST YORKSHIRES, WAS WOUNDED AND TAKEN PRISONER, IN OCTOBER 1917.
