Marson, Johnson

Born Hutton Cranswick, Yorkshire, 1879. Son of Johnson and Sarah Marson. Both parents deceased. He had one brother, Andrew, at 7, Claremont Avenue, Balfour Street, Hull and one sister, Ruth at 47 Blake Street, Brunswick Avenue, Hull.

Married at Hull, on 25 Dec 1900. Husband of Annie Elizabeth of 17, Durham Grove, Northumberland Avenue, Hull (1914 Army address) and 3, Orchard View, Salisbury Crescent, Newland Avenue, Hull (War Pension address). They had three children, Maurice, John and Beatrice. He worked as Game Keeper in Worcester (1911) and as a Rullyman, in Hull. Described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 39-41 inch chest, 168 lbs weight, very good physical development, Church of England religion.

He enlisted at Hull, on 07/12/1914. Formerly 2nd Hull (H.B R.G.A.) Trained at Hedon. Served as, Gunner, 216, Royal Garrison Artillery, 124th Heavy Battery. Posted to France, on 28/04/1916. Wounded by gun shots to abdomen and back. Died of wounds, at the 21st Casualty Clearing Station, on 17/11/1916, aged 37. He had served in the army for 1 year and 347 days.

His widow wrote to the War Office, in frustration about the delays in returning his army effects. She was awarded a weekly war pension, of 23 shillings & three pence, for herself and three children, on 28/05/1917. She married, Gunner, Hallett, East Riding, RGA, on 27/10/1917.
