Martin, Henry Walter

BORN HULL 1881. SON OF WALTER MARTIN (1851-1932) & CAROLINE “CARRIE” HINDLEY (1859-1909), OF 2, FINSBURY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A WIDOWED IRON TURNER. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. WORKED AS AN OIL MILLER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 26755, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 142ND LABOUR CORPS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 14/07/1917, AGED 37. COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WALTER.

HIS BROTHER, HERBERT SERVED IN THE HORSE ARTILLERY AND LIVED AT 6, NEVADA TERRACE, BLUNDELL STREET, HULL, WITH HIS WiFE AND TWO SONS.

ANOTHER BROTHER, JOHN ALFRED MARTIN ENLISTED IN THE EYR, ON 28/10/1915 AND SERVED IN THE MACHINE GUN CORPS.
