Patrington WW1 Memorial Tablet, St Patrick’s Church, Patrington. 111 men served and 24 died in WW1

Born Patrington Haven, 15/07/1891. Son of Patrick and Winifred McNicholas. Worked as a wagoner at Welneck Farm, Patrington (1911 census). Emigrated to Canada, where he worked as a Teamster. Enlisted at Winnipeg, Manitoba, on 15/11/1915. Described as 5 foot, 6 inches tall, 40-42 inch chest, blue eyes, light brown hair, Methodist religion.

Served with the 27th Infantry, Canadian Expeditionary Force. Posted to France, on 02/09/1916. Wounded 18/08/1918 – gunshot to elbow and right leg fractured. Died of wounds, on 09/10/1918, at the 93rd Field Ambulance, aged 27. His army effects were left to his mother, Winifred at Patrington Haven, Hull.

he is buried in France. Commemorated on the Patrington ww1 Memorial and at St Patrick’s Church there.
