Metcalf, Fred

Born Hull 1896. Sone of George Michael and Metcalf Annie Elizabeth Wrigglesworth (1863-1952), of The Alley, Ottringham, East Yorkshire. He resided at at Weeton, Patrington and worked as a Farm Servant.

He enlisted at Hull. Formerly 3977, East Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to France, on 18/11/1915. Transferred to the 6th Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment. Killed in action, on 11/04/1918, aged 22. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. His army effects were left to his mother, Annie E Metcalf, at the Alley, Ottringham, Hull.
