Brandesburton WW1 Memorial Cross

Born Brandesburton, 1887. Son of Henry Whitelock Metcalf, and Clara Elizabeth Metcalf, of Brandesburton, Hull. Educated at Hymer’s College, Hull. Worked as a Chemist’s Assistant, in Barnsley, Yorkshire. Enlisted Luton, Bedfordshire. Served as Acting Sergeant, in the 1/4th Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action at Loos, on 13/10/1915, aged 29. His army effects were left to his father, Henry. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, to the Missing.
