BORN HULL 23/05/1871. SON OF THOMAS & SARAH ANN MIDGELY. HIS WIFE SUSAN ANN BUGDEN LIVED AT THIS ADDRESS. THEY HAD FIVE CHILDREN INCLUDING FOUR SONS. EMPLOYED AS A HORSE GROOM AT THE MILK DAIRIES. HE SERVED WITH CARBINIERS DURING THE BOER WAR. RECALLED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR AND SERVED WITH HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY. AWARDED THE BRITISH WAR MEDAL AND VICTORY MEDAL. THERE ARE NO ‘SOLDIERS DIED’ RECORDS FOUND. HE IS LISTED IN THE CWGC RECORDS. HIS SIXTEEN YEAR OLD SON GEORGE MIDGLEY, SANK WITH HMS ‘MONMOUTH’, 01/11/1914, AGED 17.
