BORN BANNOCKBURN, STIRLING 1890. SON OF HUGH MILLER & ELIZABETH MELROSE (1859-1932), OF “FRITHFIELD” HOUSE, GARDEN VILLAGE, HULL. (CWGC ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN GLASGOW. A PROFESSIONAL SOLDIER, SERVING WITH THE 1ST BATTALION, SCOTS GUARDS, BEFORE WAR BEGAN.

HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE., ON 13/08/1914. KILLED AT YPRES, ON 29/10/1914, AGED 24. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, HUGH.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, HUGH WILSON MILLER, 72ND CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, WAS KILLED ON 29/09/1918, AGED 24 AND IS BURIED AT SANCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY, FRANCE.
