BORN HULL 1884. SON OF JOHN RICHARD MILLETT (1852-1886) AND SARAH BOSTOCK JARVIS (1855-1919), OF HULL & 13 MILTON STREET, BRADFORD, WEST YORKSHIRE.. HIS MOTHER REMARRIED AND BECAME SARAH WALLACE, LIVING IN BRADFORD. HE HAD FIVE SISTERS AND A BROTHER, ARTHUR ERNEST MILLETT, WHO WAS A SAILOR.

HE WORKED AS A LABOURER IN CIVILIAN LIFE. BEFORE BECOMING A REGULAR SOLDIER. HE ENLISTED IN BARDFORD AGED 19. SERVED IN THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS, ON 06/04/1904. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6.5 INCHES TALL, 133 LBS WEIGHT, 35 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, LIGHT BROWN HAIR, SCAR OVER LEFT EYE, TATTOOS, ON WRIST AND FOREARM. HE SERVED IN MALTA, CYPRUS AND EGYPT. WHILE HIS ARMY CHARACTER WAS DESCRIBED AS “GOOD”, HIS EARLY CONDUCT SHEET REPORTED INCIDENTS OF LATE ON PARADE, DRUNKENESS, VIOLENCE AND RESISTING ARREST. HE SERVED TWO TERMS OF DETENTION FOR MISBEHAVIOUR DURING HIS SERVICE

HE MARRIED HELEN MAUD BOOTH (NELLIE) (1886-1947), AT BRADFORD, ON 03/11/1907. WAS POSTED TO SALONIKA, ON 23/08/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 28/07/1918, AGED 34. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 14 YEARS AND 114 DAYS. HE IS BURIED AT KARASOULI MILITARY CEMETERY, GREECE.

HIS ELDER BROTHER, JOHN RICHARD BOOTH, WAS LOST ON THE HMT “OTHELLO”, ON 31/10/1915, AGED 36.
