BORN HULL 1884. SON OF MR THOMAS MOODY, OF 12, VENTOR STREET, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL AND LATER 34, HAWORTH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). HIS FATHER WAS STEWARD ON THE LINER “ABINGER” AND A WELL KNOWN CATERER.

CHARLES LIVED IN BEVERLEY. HE ENLISTED IN AUGUST 1914. FORMERLY, GUNNER, 159 EAST RIDING ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. TRANSFERRED TO THE 164TH SIEGE BATTERY. HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR TWO YEARS WHEN HE WAS WOUNDED. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 09/05/1918, AGED 32, WHEN THE HOSPITAL HE ATTENDED WAS SHELLED BY THE GERMANS.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 07/06/1918. *

HE IS BURIED AT LAPUGNOY MILITARY CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.
