They had three children, Edith, Annie and Charles. He joined the 1st West Yorkshire Regiment Volunteers, on 1/3/1908. In civilian life he worked as a Groom and as a Miller’s Labourer. Described as 5 foot. 10 inches tall, 160 lbs weight, 37-39 inch chest, blue eyes, brown hair, Church of England religion.

Served in the 1st Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princes of Wales’ Own). Discharged 27/6/1918. Died in Hull, of Tuberculosis of the Lung on 12/05/1918.
