Enlisted at Hull, on 08/09/1914. Served as Private, 38401, “B” Company, 1st Yorkshire Regiment. Had a very poor disciplinary record. Being repeatedly late and absent for parade, and refusing orders to parade. He was posted to India, on 14/06/1916. Invalided from Rawal Pindi, India. Returned to Brighton hospital, England, on 16/10/1917. Discharged from the army on 03/12/1919. Died of disease, on 26/10/1920, aged 25.
