BORN HULL 1877.  SON OF PATRICK AND EMMA MULVEY. HUSBAND OF SARAH GOULD MULVEY, AT 22 WILFREDS TERRACE, WESTBOURNE STREET, HULL.(ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). HE REPORTED THAT HE HAD NO PARENTS, OR OTHER SIBLINGS, OR CHILDREN, ON HIS ARMY FORM. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3.5 INCHES TALL, 138 LBS WEIGHT, 35.5 INCH CHEST SIZE.

HE MARRIED ON 20/04/1901, AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, HULL. HE WORKED A BOLIERSMITH FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY COMPANY, DAITYCOATES DEPOT, (1911 CENSUS). HE ENLISTED IN HULL, AGED 38 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS, 0N 10/06/1915. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 21/12/1916. HE SERVED AS A PRIVATE, WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS BURIED BY A SHELL. KILLED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME, 01/07/1916, AGED 39. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/08/1916. *

HIS BODY WAS RECOVERED AND HE IS BURIED THERE AT DEVILLE WOOD CEMETERY, FRANCE. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND NO CHILDREN.
