BORN HULL 01/07/1899. SECOND SON OF ERNEST JAMES NEWELL & THE LATE ADA NEWELL, HULL. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. SERVED ON A STEAM TRAWLER. PRESUMED DROWNED 14/12/1919, AGED 19. HIS CWGC ADDRESS, WAS 9, CAMBERWELL AVENUE, BRIGHTON STREET, HULL.
HIS OLDER BROTHER, ERNEST NEWELL, WAS LOST AT SEA, ON 03/01/1916, S/S ‘MALABAR’, AGED 24 AND LIVED AT RHODES STREET, HULL.
On December 14th, 1919, the British trawler ISLE OF MAN went missing in the North Sea with all on board. She was not heard of ever since.
