Nicholson, Andrew George

BORN HULL 25/11/1895. SON OF THE LATE GEORGE NICHOLSON (1860-1906) AND AGNES EMILY PEDERSON (1864-1920), OF 559 SPRING BANK WEST. (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD WORKED AS A CLERK IN HULL ANDEMIGRATED TO CANADA. HE ENLISTED AT TORONTO, IN CANADA. SERVED IN THE CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, IN THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS, 5TH FIELD AMBULANCE SECTION. HE CAME FROM TORONTO TO FIGHT FOR HIS COUNTRY AND WAS KILLED BY AN ENEMY SHELL AT POZIERES, ON 16/09/1916, AGED 20. HIS STORY AND PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 14TH MAY 1915. *
HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED AND HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE VIMY MEMORIAL, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.
HE WAS BROTHER, TO FERDINAND ARNOLD NICHOLSON, DOROTHY, RUTH, NOEL AND GRACE.
