BORN HULL 1880. SON OF FREDERICK EDMUND NICHOLSON (1842-1947) & MARY ANN PARKER (1848-1927), OF 39 BERESFORD AVENUE, BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A CLERK FOR BLUNDELL’S, SPENCE & CO, THE PAINT MANUFACTURER.
HE MARRIED IN APRIL 1910. HIS WIFE, & ONE CHILD, LIVED AT 153 CHANTERLANDS AVENUE AND 6 ALASKA STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL IN 1915. SERVED AS SERGEANT, 220011, 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/07/1917, AGED 37. HE HAD SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE, SURVIVED THE SOMME AND OPPY WOOD AND DONE EXCELLENT WORK IN THE TRENCHES. TWICE HE HAD TAKEN OUT PATROLS AND WAS ABSOLUTELY FEARLESS.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, LILY.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON THE 17TH JULY 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
