Married at Hull, on 28/04/1900. Husband of Lily Agnes Fortitt (1878-1943), of 7, Claude Terrace, Seaton Street, Hull (War Pension address). They had six children. He was a Confectionery Panmaker. He had also served in the 3rd London Rifles Volunteers for 2 years. Described as 5 foot, 5.5 inches tall, 136 lbs weight, 37-39.5 inch chest, brown eyes, brown hair, Roman Catholic religion.

He enlisted in Hull, on 23/08/1914, aged 35 and was discharged on 23/12/1914. He re-enlisted on 14/08/1915 and served as Private, 201543, 1/4th East Yorkshire Regiment. Discharged on 7/2/1919. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 469286).

He died at Hull, on 01/11/1919, aged 41.
