Born Hull 1864. Husband of Ellen Oates, of 12. Cornwall Street, Hull (1911 Census) and 9, Bedford Street, Hull (War Pension address). He joined the Royal Navy. In civilian life he was a Council School Care Taker and Cleaner.
Enlisted at Hull, on 18th March 1915. Served in the 123 protection Company, Royal Defence Corps. Discharged with Rheumatism, on 30th April 1917. He had served in the army for 2 years and 44 days. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 171160 ) Died in Hull, 09/09/1918, aged 54.
