BORN HULL 1884. SON OF JOHN OMER AND FRANCES EMMA ROBINSON, LIVING AT 14, MAY AVENUE, BEDFORD STREET, WINCOLMLEE, HULL HE WAS ONE OF NINE CHILDREN. HIS FATHER DIED IN 1897. HIS MOTHER DIED IN 1919. MANY MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY WORKED FOR RECKITT’S AND COLMAN, IN HULL.
BEFORE THE WAR, ARTHUR WAS A GENERAL LABOURER AND GREENGROCER. HE MARRIED AT HULL, IN 1906. HIS WIFE, WAS LILY (MILLS) OMER, AT 14, MAY AVENUE, BEDFORD STREET, WINCOLMLEE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD FOUR CHILDREN, FRANCES CHARLOTTE, ARTHUR, LEONARD AND WALTER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 4253, OF THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL TANK CORP, 1ST BRIGADE, BATTALION HEADQUARTERS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 30/11/1917, AGED 32. HE IS BURIED AT GREVELLIERS BRITISH CEMETERY IN BELGIUM.
HE LEFT A WIDOW, LILY MILLS AND FOUR YOUNG CHILDREN, AT 14, MAY AVENUE, BEDFORD STREET, HULL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS AND WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS WIFE, LILY.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HULL GARDENER SOCIETY MEMORIAL AT HULL’S HOLY TRINITY CHURCH.
