Born Hull, 1880. Husband of Jane Elizabeth Parker (formerly Osbourn, of L, Elizabeth Rd., of 5, Seymour Street, Hawthorne Avenue, Hull (war pension address).

Sergeant Osborne served with the 8th EYR and was killed in action, in France, May 1917. His is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France

Since the outbreak of war, he had been a well known figure at West Park as a Drill Instructor and was billeted at Craft’s shop, Hessle Road, Hull. He had served in the Boer War and gained two medals. He joined the Hull Post Office, in 1902 and held the confidence of all ranks. He was well known on St Andrews Dock, where he delivered letters for many years.

He had only been at the front for six weeks when he was killed. He left a widow, four daughters under 13 and a baby boy aged two. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 27/05/1917, but his name, age and regiment are not disclosed.

His widow re-married and moved to Stoneferry, Hull (CWGC address)
