BORN GRIMSBY, LINCOLNSHIRE, 1873. SON OF ISAAC AND SARAH OTTLEY. A TRAWLERMAN. HUSBAND OF SARAH JANE NORTON, AT 7 PROVIDENCE TERRACE, WASSAND STREET, HULL. HIS BROTHER IN LAW LIVED AT 11 ELLIS TERRACE, WASSAND STREET. SERVED IN THE MERCHANT NAVY. LOST ON THE TRAWLER “CELIA”. HE IS RECORDED IN HULL’S LOST TRAWLERMAN RECORDS. DROWNED ON 08/01/1915, AGED 42
On January 8th, 1915, the British trawler CELIA went missing in the North Sea. She was not heard of ever since and was probably sunk by enemy action. 9 crew lost their lives.
