Born Brayton, East Yorkshire, 1893. Son of William and Eliza Palframan, of the White House, Brayton, near Selby, Yorkshire (war Pension address). Son of a farm labourer. Fourth of five children. He had two elder sisters and brother, Thomas. Also one younger sibling.
He was a French Polisher, boarding at 1, Savannah Avenue Minton Street, Newland, Hull (1911 Census). He also lived at 111 hardy Street, Hull (army records address). Described as 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 33-35.5 inch chest, 126 lbs weight, spectacles, good physical development, Church of England religion.
He enlisted in Hull, on 7th December 1915. Called up on 21st January 1916. Posted to France, on 16th June 1916. Served with the 8th East Yorkshire Regiment. Died of wounds, on12/04/1917, aged 24. He was awarded the Military Medal (MM), for gallantry, which was sent to his parents on 17th May 1918.
Buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, France. His grave inscription, reads, ONLY ONE AMONGST THOUSANDS BUT ALL THE WORLD TO US AND SADLY MISSED
His army effects were left to his mother, Eliza. His army effects included, photos, identity disc, leather cigarette case, broken spectacles, mirror, compass, wrist watch, knife, comb and bag.
