BORN HULL 1889. ONLY SON OF WILLIAM HENRY PASHLEY (1861-1903) & PHOEBE OBRIDGE (1860-1938), OF 8, BARNSLEY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE SISTERS, LINDA, BERTHA AND FLORENCE. HIS FATHER DIED IN 1903.
A PROFFESIONAL SOLDIER. HE JOINED THE ARMY IN 1907. WAS SENT TO FRANCE AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR AND FOUGHT AT MONS AND THE AISNE, BEING WOUNDED IN THE HEAD. HE WAS A SERGEANT IN ‘A’ COMPANY, 1ST LINCLONSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION AT YPRES, ON 26/09/1915, AGED 26.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, PHOEBE.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH IN THE HDM ON 04/11/1914, AND THE HULL TIMES, ON 09/10/1915. *
