Kevin Tonkin [kevintonkin@yahoo.co.uk] writes on the 25 October 2015, “Arthur Henry PAYNE was my Grandad’s older brother, who was lost at sea, aboard the minesweeper HMT Erin 2, off the Isle of Wight on 19/10/1915 . I strongly believe that his year of birth was in fact 1897 and not 1896 & that he lied about his age in order to be accepted for national service? There is 1 picture of him, that is somewhere in the family, but my Grandad never knew him as he was born in 1919! We also believe they had different mothers, but the same father? I was wondering if you have anymore information regarding his mother as I have tried to trace his birth, but to no avail?” Thank You Kevin Tonkin
