BORN HULL 1898. ONLY SON OF ALFRED PERCY & LAVINIA ALICE WATSON, KENILWORTH HOUSE, PROMENADE, WITHERNSEA. HE HAD THREE SISTERS – ELIZABETH, MAUD AND BLANCHE. HIS FATHER WAS THE HOTEL MANAGER, AT 53 ANLABY ROAD, HULL. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. CHARLES WAS WELL KNOWN LOCALLY AS AN EXPERT CHESS AND BILLIARD PLAYER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. JOINED THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY IN WHICH HIS FATHER HAD SERVED A NUMBER OF YEARS. TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. AFTER BEING TWICE GASSED AND WOUNDED TWICE, HE WAS PLACED IN CHARGE OF STORES. HE WAS AFTERWARDS SEIZED WITH ILLNESS, WHICH PROVED FATAL. HE DIED AT THE MILITARY HOSPITAL, DEVONPORT, ON 05/05/1917, AGED 18.
HE WAS GIVEN A MILITARY FUNERAL AND IS BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 10/05/1917. *
