BORN HULL 1891. ONLY SON OF JOSEPH & ANNA PICKERING. BROTHER TO WINIFRED AA PICKERING. A CHEMIST WORKING IN BRAINTREE, ESSEX. HE ORIGINALLY ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS, AND WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY WHEN COMMISSIONED. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT YPRES, ON 20/09/1917, AGED 25. HE IS BURIED AT POTIJZE CHATEAU LAWN CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HE WAS MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES (MID).
FRANK WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE HULL SCOUT TROOP & HE IS REMEMBERED ON THEIR ROLL OF HONOUR, WITH SCOUTMASTERS, WILKINSON, SIDNEY FACETT & MARGINSON IN THE “ON PATROL” MAGAZINE. HE IS ALSO ONE OF 12 NAMES LISTED ON THE NORMAN PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL, UNVEILED, ON 6TH JUNE 1920.
FRANK PICKERING IS ALSO LISTED ON THE HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE MEMORIAL, PARK STREET, HULL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 03/11/1917.
