BORN HULL 1900. SON OF JOHN PROCTOR (1851-1914) AND MARY JANE PROCTOR (1857-1933), OF 3 CRACROFT TERRACE, NORNABELL STREET, HULL. (CWGC RECORDS). THE SON OF A DOCK LABOURER. YOUNGEST OF NINE CHILDREN. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS, WHO ALL LIVED IN THE HOLDERNESS ROAD AREA OF HULL. HE LIVED WITH HIS MOTHER. THIS WAS HIS ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS. A FORMER RULLYMAN. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 27/11/1917, AGED 18 YEARS AND 1 MONTH. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 2 INCHES TALL, 110 LBS WEIGHT, 33 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, BROWN HAIR AND “SALLOW” COMPLEXION. JOINED THE 15TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, IN THE FIELD ON 19/06/1918. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, 26/08/1918, AGED 18. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, MARY, WHO MOVED IN WITH ONE OF HER DAUGHTERS..
