BORN HULL 1892. SON OF OVERTON MASSAM PURDON (1851-1937) AND ANNE ELIZABETH LOFTHOUSE (1855-1917), OF 29, ROSE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 19, WALMSLEY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A JOURNEY MAN COOPER. ONE OF FIVE SURVIVING CHILDREN. A COOPER’S APPRENTICE.

HE MARRIED IN 1916. HIS WIFE MARY MURPHY AT 19, CHARLES STREET, HULL AND 19, WALMSLEY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD ONE SON, HENRY REDSHAW, BORN ON 20/07/1916.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 12TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. DIED ON 16/06/1917, AGED 25. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, MARY, WHO HE MARRIED A YEAR BEFORE.
