Born Hull, 1891. Son of William Rawling (1855-1916) and Emma Harris (1856-1902), of 11, Lincoln Street, Hull (1911 Census and Army Records address).
Employed as an Iron Moulder and Platelayer. He had also served in the Royal Garrison Artillery, for 3 years and 142 days, between 1909-1912.
Described as 5 foot, 5.5 inches tall, 119 lbs weight, 34-36,5 inch chest, Church of England religion.
He had three brothers and five sisters. Brother of Mr. William Rawling, of 27, Percival Street, Scunthorpe, Lincs., (CWGC address).
He re-enlisted at Hull when war began. Posted to France, on 06/06/1915. Served as Gunner, 47332, Royal Garrison Artillery, 120th Siege Bty.
Died of wounds, on 08/10/1918, aged 27. Buried in France.
