Rawling, John Robert

Born Hull 1892. Son of John Rawling (1856-1919) and Mary Emma Linfoot (1854-1932). of 29, Lockwood Street, Hull (War pension address). He had two brothers and three sisters. Employed as a labourer.

He enlisted in Hull. Served as RAWLING John Robert Private 205584 – 1/4th EYR. Killed in Acton in France March 23rd 1918 aged 27 years> Buried Hancourt British Cemetery Somme Picardie, France.

His army effects were left to his father, John. His mother, Mary Emma became Guardian of his illegitimate child (pension recrods)

His is remembered on the Family Grave Western Cemetery Chanterlands Avenue Hull; – ILM of my dear husband John Rawling who died Dec 29th 1919 aged 64 years also our dear sons Walter who died Dec 13th 1911 aged 32 years (interned at Boston USA) also Pte J R Rawling 4th EYR Killed in Acton in France March 23rd 1918 aged 27 years Thy Way Not Mine O Lord – also Kenneth Rawling died May 9th 1931 aged 17 years
