Born Bermondsey, London, 1891. Son of James Raymond (1852–1909) and Sophia Louisa McLoud (1866–1951), of 8, Lepanto Avenue, Woodhouse Street, Hull (1911 Census) 1, Holborn Mount, Witham, Hull and 11, Blenheim Terrace, Norfolk Street, Hull (Army address). he had four brothers and five sisters. A general labourer. described as 5 foot, 7.5 inches tall, 37-39 inch chest, 145 lbs weight.
He enlisted in Hull, on 25/10/1916. Served in the Army Service Corps, Mechanical Transport. Attached as a Driver, to the 39th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. Killed in action, on 22/09/1917, aged 26. Buried in Belgium. His army effects were left to his widowed mother, Sophia.
His brother, Private, Henry Alfred Raymond, 270046, 1/6th Manchester Regiment, was killed in action, on 27/03/1918, aged 28 and is buried at Douchy-les-Ayette, Pas-de-Calais, Franc
