BORN HULL 1896. SON OF WILLIAM BARNES RICHARDSON (1850-1912) & ELIZABETH BARBER (1852-1900), OF 32, NAYLORS ROW, HULL. HE LIVED WITH HIS SISTER, MRS GERTRUDE ELIZABETH RASTALL (1879-1954), AT 58, THOMAS STREET, HULL. (CWGC ADDRESS). BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS AN APPRENTICE MOULDER FOR MESSRS, HOLLIS BROTHERS, HEDON ROAD, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, SERVING WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, AT THE START OF THE WAR. HE WAS POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 13/07/1915. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE BATTALION. KILLED IN ACTION AT THE SOMME, ON 10TH JULY 1916, AGE 20. HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR ABOUT THIRTEEN MONTHS.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. LISTED AS FALLEN ON THE DANSOM LANE MEMORIAL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 14TH AUGUST 1916. *
